Media analyst Screen Digest has encouraged Microsoft to be more aggressive in order to compete with names such as Apple and Google.According to the organisation, the two companies represent a "potent challenge" to Microsoft's ambition to expand its mobile technology platform.Therefore, it has urged the computer giant to step up its efforts to compete with its rivals if it wants to gain momentum in the mobile sector.Screen Digest commented: "Microsoft needs mobile to compete with Google on advertising and web services.""However, today's mobile software market is much more competitive."Microsoft was advised to make its synchronisation and back-up services available this year, along with its application store, revamped user interfaces and Windows Mobile 6.5 technology.Screen Digest added that this would allow the company to compete with innovations such as the iPhone and Android handsets.Major players in the mobile phone industry are currently showcasing their latest products at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona.
