Mobile marketing specialists Velti have noted growing consumer demand for some of the features offered by smartphones.According to the organisation, mobile phone owners want greater freedom to personalise their handsets, beyond traditional options such as unique ringtones.Alex Moukas, chief executive of Velti, said this has been apparent in some of the offerings from manufacturers at this year's Mobile World Congress event.Vodafone, for instance, has just unveiled its new HTC Magic smartphone, which uses the Android platform currently used by the T-Mobile G1. Mr Moukas commented: "Not only does this latest news indicate a healthy smartphone market, it also strongly reflects the growing demand amongst consumers for greater freedom to personalise their mobile device."He added that the current generation of mobile phone users are now able to tailor their devices so they bring an "unparalleled" level of context and relevance to their lives.
